Clay Bar – Aggressive

Heavy-Duty Mechanical Decontamination for Heavily Contaminated Paintwork

When chemical decontamination alone isn't enough, reach for the Auto Glanz Aggressive Clay Bar – our strongest grade of automotive detailing clay, developed to tackle stubborn bonded contamination on heavily contaminated paintwork.

Designed for vehicles that haven't been thoroughly decontaminated for some time, the Aggressive Clay Bar provides increased contaminant removal to tackle stubborn industrial fallout, rail dust, tree sap, tar residue and other embedded deposits that washing and chemical cleaners may leave behind.

Its coarse grade grips stubborn contamination more effectively, helping restore an incredibly smooth surface ready for the next stage of machine polishing and paint correction.

Key Features

  • Coarse-grade automotive detailing clay
  • Our strongest clay bar for heavy contamination
  • Ideal for neglected or heavily contaminated paintwork

When Regular Clay Just Isn't Enough

Some vehicles need a little more persuasion.

Paintwork that's covered thousands of miles, spent years outdoors or simply hasn't received a thorough decontamination can accumulate substantial amounts of bonded contamination.

Even after washing, the paint may feel noticeably rough as your hand passes across the surface.

The Auto Glanz Aggressive Clay Bar has been developed specifically for these more demanding jobs. Its coarse construction provides greater mechanical cleaning ability, allowing it to grip and remove stubborn contamination more effectively than our Regular or Fine grades.

Serious Decontamination Before Paint Correction

Aggressive Clay is particularly well suited to vehicles undergoing a full paint correction detail.

By removing the stubborn bonded contamination sitting above the paintwork, you create a clean, smooth surface before introducing your polishing machine.

This helps prevent contamination from becoming trapped between your polishing pad and the paintwork during correction and gives you a properly prepared surface to work with.

Because this is our most aggressive clay grade, some level of marring may occur during use, particularly on softer paint systems. We therefore recommend using Aggressive Clay when polishing or paint correction will follow.

Fine, Regular or Aggressive – Which Clay Bar Do I Need?

Auto Glanz Clay Bars are available in three grades, allowing you to match your mechanical decontamination to the condition of the vehicle.

Fine Clay Bar
Our gentlest option. Designed for well-maintained vehicles with lighter levels of bonded contamination where minimal mechanical intervention is required.

Regular Clay Bar
Our versatile medium grade. The ideal all-round choice for reasonably maintained vehicles with moderate contamination.

Aggressive Clay Bar
Our strongest option. Designed for heavily contaminated, neglected or infrequently decontaminated paintwork where greater contaminant removal is required.

Always use the least aggressive grade capable of achieving the required result. If you're unsure which one you need, we'd recommend starting with Regular and only stepping up to Aggressive where necessary.

Highly Elastic & Built for Tougher Jobs

Auto Glanz Clay Bars have been specifically developed to offer excellent elasticity and durability.

Throughout the decontamination process, the clay can be repeatedly flattened, folded and reshaped to reveal a fresh working surface.

As stubborn contamination is removed, fold the dirty section of clay inwards before continuing. This helps keep collected contaminants away from the paintwork while allowing you to get maximum usable life from each piece.

Chemical Decontamination First

Even when dealing with heavily contaminated paintwork, your clay bar shouldn't be the first step.

We strongly recommend removing as much contamination as possible chemically before beginning mechanical decontamination.

Use Auto Glanz Spar-Tar Tar & Glue Remover to dissolve stubborn tar deposits and Blood Tonic Fallout Remover to tackle iron contamination and fallout.

Once these products have done as much work as possible, the Aggressive Clay Bar can tackle the stubborn contamination that remains.

This reduces the amount of mechanical work required and helps minimise unnecessary contact with the paintwork.

How To Use

Thoroughly wash the vehicle before chemically decontaminating the paintwork using Spar-Tar and Blood Tonic where required. Ensure all chemical products and loosened contamination have been thoroughly removed before claying.

Remove the Aggressive Clay Bar from its container and divide it into approximately four manageable pieces. Take one piece and work it in your hands before flattening it into a small disc or pancake shape.

Generously apply Auto Glanz Lubed Clay Bar Lubricant to one section of paintwork at a time.

Using minimal pressure, gently glide the clay backwards and forwards across the lubricated surface. You'll initially feel the clay gripping contamination as it moves across the panel. As the contamination is removed, the clay should begin to move more freely and the surface will feel progressively smoother.

Regularly inspect the working face of the clay. When contamination becomes visible, fold the dirty section inwards and reshape the clay to expose a clean surface.

Once the area feels completely smooth, wipe away the remaining lubricant with a clean microfibre cloth before moving onto the next section.

After completing the vehicle, inspect the paintwork and proceed with your chosen machine polishing or paint correction process.

Never use detailing clay on a dry surface. Always use plenty of suitable clay lubricant.

Important Clay Bar Tips

Aggressive Clay provides significantly more mechanical cleaning ability than our other grades, so don't apply excessive pressure. Allow the clay to glide across the well-lubricated surface and do the work for you.

Always keep the panel generously lubricated throughout use.

If you drop your clay onto the floor, discard that piece immediately. Dirt and grit can become embedded in the clay and potentially cause significant scratching.

Once the clay becomes heavily contaminated and can no longer be folded to expose a clean working surface, replace it with a fresh piece.

For the best possible finish, we recommend polishing paintwork after using Aggressive Clay.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I use Aggressive Clay?
Choose Aggressive Clay for heavily contaminated or neglected paintwork where Fine or Regular Clay doesn't provide sufficient contaminant removal.

Will Aggressive Clay scratch my paint?
Any mechanical decontamination can potentially cause marring. Because Aggressive is our strongest grade, the likelihood is greater than with Fine or Regular Clay. For this reason, we'd generally recommend following it with machine polishing.

Should I polish the vehicle afterwards?
Yes. Aggressive Clay is best suited to preparation for a full paint correction or machine polishing process.

Can I use it without clay lubricant?
No. Never use a clay bar on dry paintwork. Always use plenty of Auto Glanz Lubed Clay Bar Lubricant to provide sufficient lubrication between the clay and surface.

Should I use fallout and tar remover first?
Absolutely. We recommend using Blood Tonic Fallout Remover and Spar-Tar Tar & Glue Remover first. Mechanical decontamination should tackle what remains after the chemical stages have done their job.

What if I'm unsure whether I need Aggressive or Regular?
Start with Regular. It's always best to use the least aggressive method necessary and only move up to Aggressive if the contamination requires it.
